Public Safety Telecommunicator Trainee

Seeking a Public Safety Telecommunicator Trainee who receives/responds to telephone or other electronic requests for emergency assistance including law enforcement, fire, medical, or other emergency services. Dispatches appropriate units to response sites; does related duties as required. Learns to obtain, verify, and record location of emergency, name of caller, nature, severity, and status of emergency and obtains any appropriate information needed to secure a full assessment of circumstances. Learns to operate automatic number identification (ANI), automatic location information (ALI), telecommunications devices for the dead (TTY/TDD), or other electronic devices to obtain/verify required data. After successfully completing one year in role of trainee, may be eligible for advancement to Public Safety Telecommunicator.
